Special Considerations
Previous visa issues: If you have previously had an Australian visa cancelled or a visa application refused, you may not be eligible for an ETA and should contact Australian immigration authorities.
Criminal convictions: Any criminal convictions, including those that did not result in imprisonment, must be declared. Serious criminal convictions may result in your ETA application being refused.
Tuberculosis (TB): If you have had tuberculosis, you may need to provide additional health information and undergo health examinations before your ETA can be granted.
Children and infants: All travelers, regardless of age, require their own ETA. Children included on a parent's passport still need an individual ETA application.
Eligible Countries
Passport holders from the following 34 countries and territories are eligible to apply for an Australian ETA:
If You're Not Eligible
If you do not meet the ETA eligibility requirements or hold a passport from a country not listed above, you may still be able to visit Australia by applying for a different type of visa. Australia offers various visa options depending on your nationality and purpose of visit:
- Visitor visa (subclass 600) - for tourism or business visits
- eVisitor (subclass 651) - for certain European passport holders
- Working Holiday visa - for young adults aged 18-30 from eligible countries
- Student visa - for longer-term study programs
Visit the official Australian Department of Home Affairs website for more information about alternative visa options.
